STRUCTURAL RENOVATIONS

Structural damage resulting from water intrusion can cause many unsafe conditions, such as building settlement, partial collapse, or worse. Renovating or rehabilitating existing structures often creates many challenges, although with J2’s multi-disciplinary team of consultants, we are able to find cost effective solutions to structural repairs. Our engineers assists throughout the entire rehabilitation process, including building investigations, damage assessment, structural analysis, remedial design preparation, and construction support, to ensure that the structural issues are properly identified and addressed.

Seismic Evaluations

For decades, every new edition of the building code has had significant changes in the requirements for seismic design. Each change is the result of new information about how existing buildings perform during an earthquake. When repairing a building envelope, for many older buildings, there is a significant cost/benefit ratio to consider when upgrading the seismic capacity of a building. J2’s Engineering team is skilled in evaluating buildings and their components to determine if, where, and to what extent a building is vulnerable in the event of an earthquake. Seismic risk assessments can assist building owners with their financial decisions by identifying potential losses from building damage, content damage and business interruption. If it is decided that a structural upgrade is needed, we can provide a retrofit design, calculations and construction support.
