ENERGY AUDITS & CONSERVATION
Everyday we see in the news about cities and municipalities requiring energy audits and energy saving measures to existing buildings and new construction projects. Each state is creating their own Department of the Environment to manage the miriad of programs, requirements, and incentives. These requirements include residential and commercial properties and have stepped levels typically based on size of the structure.
These audits are useful (and more often than not required) in either new or rehabilitative construction. They can be useful tools to integrate into LEED design packages, insulation upgrade incentive programs, and overall building modeling as we are all becoming more aware of our usage levels and our conservation ideals.
Our energy audits can include a variety of services, so we will work with you to meet your requirements as well as project specific goals.
- Blower door testing and infrared analysis of air leakage
- Combustion monitoring and review of HVAC systems and their efficiency levels
- Analysis of windows, walls, and roofs insulation levels and their performance
- Energy Benchmarking and before and after measurements for performance
If modifications to your building are necessary we can design the scope of repairs, oversee the contractors installing the upgrades, and even implement repairs if desired.
We adhere to the following policies and guidelines as they relate to your project:
- ASHRAE Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits
- Energy Star
- Resnet
- BPi
- Department of the Environment (per State)
A side benefit of conducting an energy audit to locate and cure air leakage locations, is that these same leakage spots are also common water leakage points that are cured simultaneously.
Aside from the utility bill savings, we applaud these measures to save resources and preserve our environment from needless heat loss, or heat island affects.
